Trump Exploits London Attack for His Failed Agenda
U.S President Donald Trump may be attempting to provoke a terrorist attack on the United States to prove that he is right.
Following the weekend attack at London Bridge that killed seven and injured up to 48 innocent civilians, Trump went on a Tweeter rant arguing that the attacks “will get worse.”
“We must stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people. If we don’t get smart it will only get worse,” Trump tweeted Sunday morning.
Seeking to build support for his failed bid to ban Muslims from several countries, from entering the United States, the president targeted the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, a Muslim, for the mayor’s encouraging words to Londoners following the attacks.
The president mischaracterized the mayor’s words saying the mayor told Londoners that “there is no reason to be alarmed” following the terrorist attacks.
That is not what the Mr. Khan said.
Speaking to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Mayor Khan said he was “appalled and furious that these cowardly terrorists would target” innocent civilians and vowed not to let them win.
“We will never let them win, nor will we allow them to cower our city,” Mayor Khan said, adding that Londoners should not be worried by the increased police presence on the streets.
“Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. No reason to be alarmed. One of the things, the police, all of us need to do, is make sure we’re as safe as we possibly can be. I’m reassured that we are one of the safest global cities in the world, if not the safest global city in the world, but we always evolve and review ways to make sure that we remain as safe as we possibly can,” Mr. Khan said.
All of these prompted MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts to ask Sunday if the U.S. President is trying to send a message to terrorists to strike the country, just so he can prove that he is right in trying to ban Muslims from the U.S.
“Let’s not be PC about this,” Roberts said during his show on MSNBC on Sunday before asking the Mayor of Atlanta Mr. Kasim Reed (D) if the president is trying to provoke domestic terrorism.
“Is the president trying to provoke a domestic terrorist attack with this Twitter rant because — only to prove himself right?” Roberts asked.
Roberts repeated his question during the following segment with former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman and former Governor of Vermont Howard Dean.
“I asked this of Mayor Reed, but it seems like the president is trying to provoke something that he can politicize more for his own gain in America. Do you feel that way?” Roberts asked Howard Dean.
Mr. Dean replied that President Trump is completely incompetent.
“Well, I think he’s totally incompetent,” said Dean.
“I’m tired of this crap. Let him do what he wants. He’s not the president of what the American dream stands for. He’s not the president of the greatest nation on the face of the Earth.
“He can be his own president and get whatever he wants out of that. We’ll speak for America. He can speak for whoever he wants,” Howard Dean added.
