2020 – Mark Cuban, Biden, Warren, Sanders Lead Democrats Picked to Beat Trump

2020 Election - Democrats picked to beat Trump
Cuban, Warren and Biden among Democrats picked to beat Trump in 2020

2020 is fast approaching and with Donald Trump’s poll numbers upside down in recent survey results, you might be wondering which Democrats stand the best chance of beating the president? Well, somebody has been asking that same question and has the answers.

Sure its too early to start wondering about 2020 but Democrat-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) asked Americans who they believe is in position to beat Mr. Trump. The released poll results show six hypothetical matchups between Donald Trump and possible general election Democrats opponents.

2016 Independent/Democrat candidate U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders and former vice president Joe Biden topped the list with double-digit leads over Trump. Dallas based Billionaire Mark Cuban, Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn, can beat Trump but more narrowly.

The only non-politician in the group, Mark Cuban owns National Basketball Association’s Dallas Mavericks team. In the battle-of-the-billionaires match up against Trump, Mark Cuban was the choice of 42 percent of 887 people asked versus 38 percent for the president.

Earlier this week sports talk host Rich Eisen asked Cuban if he was thinking about running. “I would not put it high on my list of probabilities, but we will see what happens,” answered Cuban, who frequently stumped for Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail in 2016.

“I have got much time to decide,” he added.

While Cuban might have a shot, the same poll suggests U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and any other Republican would face a much tougher road if they sought to beat Trump in a GOP primary in 2020. The poll showed Republican voters would pick Trump over Cruz 62 percent to 22 percent

The same polls shows identical results if Gov. John Kasich tried to challenge Trump. Vice president Mike Pence does slightly better with 52 percent saying they would stick with Trump and 24 percent saying they would pick Pence, the former governor of Indiana.

trump recently got into a tiff with Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal over Blumenthal’s service or lack thereof, during the Vietnam war.

According to PPP, The poll results are:

  • Bernie Sanders 51 percent – Trump 38 percent
  • Joe Biden 51 percent – Trump 39 percent
  • Elizabeth Warren 45 percent – Trump 40 percent
  • Mark Cuban 42 percent – Trump 38 percent
  • Cory Booker 42 percent – Trump 39 percent
  • Richard Blumenthal 42 percent – Trump 39 percent
