Record-Breaking Month of Fundraising for House Democrats

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is reporting that House Democrats have shattered their August fundraising record with their largest off-year haul to date.

DCCC said House Democrats raised a whopping $6.26 million. That bests the previous August 2015 record of $4.15 million.

“With the House in play, another record-breaking month of fundraising for the DCCC is a clear sign that the grassroots energy behind House Democrats is constantly growing stronger,” Tyler Law, a spokesperson for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee told NBC News.

Law added, “Given Speaker (Paul) Ryan’s failure to govern with unified Republican control of Washington, it is understandable that vulnerable House Republicans are opting for retirement while we are recruiting incredible candidates deep into the map.”

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has out-raised its Republican counterpart in the past three months setting the record for the Democratic Party.

The DCCC is the campaign arm of House Democrats and works with the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on fundraising.

“The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has out-raised its Republican counterpart in the past three months setting the record for the Democratic Party.”

Overall, the DCCC has raised $72.46 million this year. As of July, the Republican Congressional Committee had a $12 million advantage over Democrats. Republicans have not released their August numbers yet.

To stand a chance of retaking the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018, House Democrats not only need to keep raising record amounts, they need to keep recruiting quality candidates throughout the country.

So far this year, the Democrats appear to be winning most elections from Oklahoma to New Hampshire where they swept recent state elections.
