America is quickly reverting to the old wild west – the days when men walked around with guns hanging out of their belts and the “good old boys” hanged anyone for any reason. It appears vice president Mike Pence wants to hang all gay Americans because of their sexual orientation.

According to Trump, Pence wants to hang all gays if he ever gets the chance, confirming the worst fears the LGBTQ community has about the vice president.

An article published Monday by New Yorker said Trump routinely mocks Pence for his christian faith and joked that there was no point asking Pence about gay rights because “he wants to hang them all.”

The article said Trump delights in letting his VP know who is the boss.

“When the conversation turned to gay rights, Trump motioned toward Pence and joked, “Don’t ask that guy—he wants to hang them all!”

“Trump thinks Pence is great…But, according to a longtime associate, Trump also likes to “let Pence know who’s boss.” A staff member from Trump’s campaign recalls him mocking Pence’s religiosity. He said that, when people met with Trump after stopping by Pence’s office, Trump would ask them, “Did Mike make you pray?” the New Yorker wrote.

“During a meeting with a legal scholar, Trump belittled Pence’s determination to overturn Roe v. Wade. The legal scholar had said that, if the Supreme Court did so, many states would likely legalize abortion on their own. “You see?” Trump asked Pence. “You’ve wasted all this time and energy on it, and it’s not going to end abortion anyway.”

“When the conversation turned to gay rights, Trump motioned toward Pence and joked, “Don’t ask that guy—he wants to hang them all!” the magazine continued.

The vice president was raised a Catholic but later converted to evangelical Christianity with his wife Karen and sources told New Yorker Trump never fails to make fun of Pence as a result.

Before becoming vice president, Pence was governor of Indiana and he passed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) which critics claimed was a license for businesses to discriminate against the LGBTQ on religious grounds. Pence later signed an amendment or a “fix” after an uproar, to ensure Indiana businesses would not use the law to discriminate against gays.

The VP has said in the past that gay couples “signaled societal collapse.” He staunchly opposed the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” opposed a law prohibiting discrimination against LGBTQ people in the workplace and rejected Obama administration guidance on transgender students being able to use bathrooms that corresponds to their gender identity.

The LGBTQ community do not think this is funny in any way. The Human Rights Campaign called Trump’s reported joke “evil” in a tweet posted late Monday.
