Trump Works Overtime to Silence Bannon’s Testimony Before Special Prosecutor

Steve Bannon - to testify soon

Former White House adviser Steve Bannon is ready to reveal everything he knows about Donald Trump and his campaign’s connections with Russia but President Trump has gone into overdrive to squash his testimony.

Sources told The Liberal Advocate News Wednesday morning that Bannon was aware of most meetings that occurred between officials of the Trump campaign and transition teams, and has informed special counsel Robert Mueller’s team that he is ready to sit down and tell them everything he knows.

“It seems that Mueller is finally getting very close to Donald Trump’s connections to Russia and Putin, and you can clearly see that they are starting to panic. Executive privilege may not work this time around,” our source, who is well informed about these matters said.

Mueller is investigating whether Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential elections and if the Trump team aided and abetted that interference in any way. He is also looking into what Trump knew, if anything, and when he knew it as well as if the president attempted to obstruct justice when he told former FBI director James Comey to stop his investigation into Michael Flynn’s role.

Daily Beast first reported Tuesday evening that Bannon is ready to cooperate with Mueller’s investigative team. “Mueller will hear everything Bannon has to say,” a source told The Daily Beast.

This was later confirmed Wednesday by Axios which reported that Bannon  “intends to fully cooperate with Mueller.” Bannon was issued a subpoena last week to appear before a grand jury by the special prosecutor but he later agreed to sit down with them and answer all questions.

Sources told The Liberal Advocate News that Trump has instructed his lawyers to “do everything” and use “every means possible” to ensure Bannon does not testify before Mueller’s team.

“Unlike when he met with congressional investigators and decided not to answer any questions, when Bannon meets with the special prosecutor, he cannot refuse to answer their questions,” our source confirmed Wednesday.

Bannon met with House Intelligence Committee for nine hours Tuesday and refused to answer questions invoking executive privilege after the White House told him he didn’t have to answer any of their questions.

“It seems that Mueller is finally getting very close to Donald Trump’s connections to Russia and Putin, and you can clearly see that they are starting to panic. Executive privilege may not work this time around,” our source, who is well informed about these matters said.

“The separation of powers allowed Trump to invoke executive privilege when Bannon met with congressional investigators but Mueller is part of the same executive branch as the president so it won’t apply when Bannon sits down with the special prosecutor.”

“Bannon is free to say whatever the hell he wants to say to Mueller about whatever topic that he wants and there may not be anything Trump can do about it,” our source added.
