Former vice president Joseph R. Biden Jr., has won the 2020 US presidential election and will become the 46th President of the United States of America.

Nearly a week after voting ended, the state of Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes finally vaulted the former vice president under President Barack Obama, to the US presidency, giving millions in America and the world a chance to breath easier.

Throughout his campaign, Biden argued that the “soul of the nation” is at stake, and has promised that he would seek to heal a country fractured by Trump’s presidency.

Now he gets a chance to do that.

California senator Kamala Harris also makes history as the first woman, an African American to become the vice president of the United States of America.

The president and vice president-elect are expected to address the nation later tonight from their Delaware base.

As expected, following his poor performance on Super Tuesday, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced this morning that he is bowing out of the 2020 presidential race.

He also threw his support behind Super Tuesday mega winner and former Vice President, Joe Biden.

Mayor Bloomberg released a statement Wednesday morning announcing the end of his campaign.

“Three months ago, I entered the race for President to defeat Donald Trump. Today, I am leaving the race for the same reason: to defeat Donald Trump – because it is clear to me that staying in would make achieving that goal more difficult,” Bloomberg announced in an email to his supporters.

He continued that “it is clear” to him the only candidate poised to defeat President Donald Trump in November is Biden.

“I’ve always believed that defeating Donald Trump starts with uniting behind the candidate with the best shot to do it. After yesterday’s vote, it is clear that candidate is my friend and a great American, Joe Biden.

“I’ve known Joe for a very long time. I know his decency, his honesty, and his commitment to the issues that are so important to our country – including gun safety, health care, climate change, and good jobs.

“I’ve had the chance to work with Joe on those issues over the years, and Joe has fought for working people his whole life. Today I am glad to endorse him – and I will work to make him the next President of the United States,” Bloomberg added.

“I’m a believer in using data to inform decisions. After yesterday’s results, the delegate math has become virtually impossible – and a viable path to the nomination no longer exists,”
Bloomberg’s statement read.

“But I remain clear-eyed about my overriding objective: victory in November. Not for me, but for our country. And so while I will not be the nominee, I will not walk away from the most important political fight of my life.”

VP Biden cleaned up on Super Tuesday following resounding victories in Virginia, North Carolina, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Maine and Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma among others.

From Texas to Massachusetts, the pundits were wrong on Tuesday.

Former Vice President Joe Biden scored shocking victory after victory in the Democratic presidential contest Tuesday night.

Following abysmal showings in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada, pundits wrote off Biden’s campaign as a ‘has been’ but the former Vice President staked his campaign on a resounding victory in South Carolina.

He was not disappointed. South Carolinians came through for him. Following that victory and with the momentum of the endorsement from former rivals Beto O’Rourke, Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar, VP Biden roared into Super Tuesday.

Texas Election Results Super Tuesday

Late deciders in state after state gave Biden the resounding victory he needed to make the race a two-man contest between him and Senator Bernie Sanders.

Maine, Texas, and other states on Super Tuesday said they were ready to take on Donald Trump.

Reports this morning indicate Massachusetts’ Senator Elizabeth Warren is reassessing her campaign after former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg dropped out of the race and threw his support behind Joe Biden.

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar will announce an end to her presidential campaign in Dallas on Monday and throw her weight behind former Vice President Joe Biden.

Sources close to the Klobuchar campaign confirmed to The Liberal Advocate Monday morning the senator will fly to Dallas, TX to join the former VP on stage and formally endorse Biden.

Over the weekend, former Mayor Pete Buttigieg ended his campaign and staffers confirmed Monday morning he will endorse VP Biden as well, although no definite date has been confirmed.

Biden campaign officials confirmed they are talking with Buttigieg and an announcement will be made soon on the date or time for the formal endorsement.

“We are still talking so I can’t give you a date or time yet. An announcement to that effect will be forthcoming,” the official told The Liberal Advocate on condition of anonymity so he could speak truthfully.

Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, spoke to VP Biden by phone moments after ending his campaign, people familiar with the conversation confined.

The audio of Bloomberg’s speech surfaced this week and in it you could clearly hear the Mayor articulate his belief that only minorities commit crimes.

“It’s controversial, but first thing is, all of your – 95% percent of your murders, murderers and murder victims, fit one M.O.

“You can just take the description, Xerox it and pass out to all the cops. They are male minorities, 15 to 25. That’s true in New York.

“It’s true in virtually every city. And that’s where the real crime is. You’ve got to get the guns out of the hands of the people that are getting killed.”

The Mayor said that cities should “put those cops where the crime is, which is in the minority neighborhoods. So this is – one of the unintended consequences is, people say, ‘Oh my God, you are arresting kids for marijuana that are all minorities.’ Yes, that’s true. Why?

“Because we put all the cops in the minority neighborhoods. Yes, that’s true. Why do we do it? Because that’s where all the crime is.”

He told the nearly all white group that “the way you get the guns out of the kids’ hands is to throw them against the wall and frisk them.”

When confronted with the audio tape this week, Bloomberg, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for President of United States, said he regrets saying these things.

“I regret that and I have apologized – and I have taken responsibility for taking too long to understand the impact it had on black and Latino communities.”

U.S. President Donald Trump, himself a well-known racist, tried to use the controversy to cast Bloomberg as a racist but immediately deleted his tweet when reminded of his past actions and his support for “Stop and Frisk.”

Trump tweeted: “WOW, BLOOMBERG IS A TOTAL RACIST!” He highlighted his tweet with #BloombergIsARacist.

Bloomberg said Trump’s tweet was an attempt to divide Americans.

He said Trump “inherited a country marching towards greater equality and divided us with racist appeals and hateful rhetoric”.

“President Trump’s deleted tweet is the latest example of his endless efforts to divide Americans,” Bloomberg added.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire Democratic primary on Tuesday. He beat Mayor Pete Buttigeig by less than 4000 votes at the last count.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota was third.

Sanders takes New Hampshire

Perhaps the surprising result was turned in by Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts who had been expected to do well considering the proximity of her state to New Hampshire. She finished fourth with 9.3 percent of the vote.

Former Vice President Joe Biden all but gave up New Hampshire when he announced during the day that he was leaving the state for South Carolina where he is expected to do well due to the state’s demographics.

Iowa and New Hampshire are predominantly Caucasian while South Carolina and Nevada, the upcoming states, have their share of minorities and people of color.

Meanwhile former Governor Deval Patrick, businessman Andrew Yang and Sen. Michael Bennet announced Tuesday they were dropping out of the presidential race.

“I am so proud of this campaign. Thank you to everyone who got us here,” Yang wrote on Twitter. “I stand before you today and say that while we did not win this election, we are just getting started,” he said. “This is the beginning.”

Sen. Bennet spoke of his love for the country.

“I love our country. I love the idea of democracy. And I want to pass it on to the next generation,” he tweeted. “I feel nothing but joy tonight as we conclude this campaign and this chapter. Tonight wasn’t our night. But New Hampshire, you may see me once again.”

Right wing backers of President Donald Trump’s campaign who flooded the telephone lines of the Iowa Democratic Party this week may have received directions from The White House and Trump campaign officials.

The actions by the trolls made it impossible for Iowa precinct chairs to report caucus results.

Our sources told us this morning there are indications that someone in the White House or Trump campaign was directing the operations.

“Yes, we are starting to see clues here and there that none of that was an accident. It wasn’t just social media trolls doing their thing. We are seeing clues that it may have come from somewhere in the White House,” our source, who spoke on condition of anonymity said.

The operation began the night of the Iowa caucus when Republican trolls suddenly started posting the reporting hotlines of the Iowa Democratic Party on social media and asking their friends to call and clog up the phone lines.

“Clog the lines,” some of the trolls urged their friends on 4chan, the internet message board frequented by GOP extremists.

On Wednesday, Democratic Party leaders confirmed the phone attacks but declined to speculate on the origin.

By Friday morning however, Democratic Party leaders were saying the attack did not happen on its own. “We think it was coordinated by someone in the White House and GOP offices,” they told us.

On Wednesday Iowa Democratic Party Communications Director Mandy McClure confirmed in a statement that there was an “unusually high volume of inbound phone calls to its caucus hotline, including [by] supporters of President Trump.”

She said the unexplained and at times hostile” calls “made it impossible for Precinct chairs to report the caucus results and contributed to the “delay in the Iowa Democratic Party’s collection of result.”

When confronted about the incident, Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said Trump campaign officials “don’t know anything about this,” adding: “It’s laughable that they would try to blame Trump for their own incompetence.”

On 4chan, some of the trolls boasted that their actions may have succeeded adding that there should be better coordination with officials in the future.

The moment former Vice President Joe Biden declared his candidacy for president of United States, I knew I had my candidate.

I love “Old Joe”.

For starters, he was President Barack Obama’s vice president and right-hand man. For me, that was all I needed to know.

I knew some of his past actions weren’t always what I would have wished. I knew he has cast a few votes that, in hindsight, he probably regrets. I also knew he has said a few things that would normally give me pause.

But none of that mattered. He was President Obama’s right-hand man. Period. End of story.

All of that changed in December when VP Biden said he “would consider” a Republican for vice president.

I clearly remember my reaction on hearing that news. It was probably close to the way most Progressives felt as well. I thought, WTF?

Speaking to voters in New Hampshire, Mr. Biden responded to a question about whether he would be willing to select a Republican as running mate by saying that “the answer is I would, but I can’t think of one now. Let me explain that. You know there’s some really decent Republicans that are out there still, but here’s the problem right now … they’ve got to step up.”

In that instant, minutes after reading that, I knew I would never vote for Vice President Biden.

I am a Progressive and I love President Obama. I will vote for whomever he chooses to endorse, without hesitation – as long as that candidate is not Joe Biden.

Like most African immigrants to the United States, I grew up believing that USA is the definition of heaven, the apex of all that is good, and when I had an opportunity to relocate here, I grabbed it with both hands.

See also: Trump Shamelessly Copies Obama Tweet About Kobe Bryant.

United States has been good to me and my family (I am married to an African immigrant who is now a US citizen and we have two U.S. citizen adult children) but I have watched in horror as America under Donald Trump has become a nightmare for everyone, except Caucasians.

Let me make one thing clear – I am not an advocate of open borders. I am also not in the group that advocate for “free everything for everyone.” My family and I work hard everyday to try to earn a living and I believe everyone should do the same.

I am not naive either.

America is not an equal opportunity country despite what the media may tell you.

Before coming here, I was aware that America was a racist nation. I just didn’t realize the intensity of that racism or how deep rooted it was within the leadership of the nation.

During the administration of George W. Bush, I briefly flirted with the idea of changing my party affiliation.

I thought, rightly, that while president George W. Bush was naive, and to a lesser extent, ignorant of many things, he had a good heart. As president, he was loving and caring, and wanted the best for all Americans regardless of skin color or national origin. He may have allowed himself to be misled into a stupid war, but I felt he was a good family man who truly feared God.

It is different today.

Today, America is a hateful nation under Donald Trump and the Republicans who claim to be born-again, God-loving and God-fearing Christians but can’t muster the compassion needed to see their way through Trump’s cages.

I have watched in horror as the President of United States has lied over and over, while his Republican friends stay silent.

I get it. They want to keep winning elections but how can anyone say they believe in Jesus Christ and turn away from the truth?

How can anyone claim to be Christian and support a man who treats women like properties?

How can they support a lying, pussy-grabbing, adulterous, morally bankrupt failure?

The Bible says you shall know them by their fruit so to know who is a Christian, all you have to do is watch what they do, not what they say.

Donald Trump is not a Christian. He has too much hate in his heart to be a Christian. He is racist as hell. No, sir! He is not a Christian.

Biden said “you know there’s some really decent Republicans.” Where are they, Mr. Vice President? Where are the decent Republicans? Show them to me.

Decent Republicans, please stand up.

The mere thought that Biden would even consider taking a Republican as running mate ought to be a disqualifying factor.

I can’t vote for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders after the mess he made in 2016 and his recent comment that women can’t win. What? Open your eyes, man. Welcome to the 21st century. Senator Elizabeth Warren appears to be too far to the left and Mayor Michael Bloomberg? Well, I think I will pass on that.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg isn’t my cup of tea and that is not because he is gay. He is two-faced and can’t be trusted.

So where does that leave me, you ask? I don’t know.

I just know one thing. I won’t vote for Joe Biden.

I apologize to you President Obama. I love you but please, don’t ask me to vote for Joe Biden. I can’t and I won’t. Not when there is a chance that he might choose a Republican as his running mate.

“Whoever I would pick for vice president, and there’s a lot of qualified women, there’s a lot of qualified African-Americans. There really truly are. There’s a plethora of really qualified people. Whomever I would pick were I fortunate enough to be your nominee, I’d pick somebody who was simpatico with me, who knew what I, what my priorities were and knew what I wanted to… We could disagree on tactic, but strategically we’d have to be in the exact same page,” Biden continued in New Hampshire.

You should have stopped at the above quote, Vice President Biden. If you had, you would have had me at hello.

There is one good thing about all this though. I will vote in November 2020 for the Democrat. I can’t stand the current occupant of the White House and that will compel me to vote. Let’s hope it is not for Joe Biden, if he is so out of touch as to even consider picking a Republican as running mate.

What a nightmare that will be. Democrats and Liberals need a fighter, a warrior to go after Donald Trump and so far Biden doesn’t seem to get it.

I will not vote for anyone who wants to compromise with Republicans. I just won’t and I know I am not alone.

So wake up Mr. Biden! Wake up and smell the coffee.

Technology is a good thing when it works as it is supposed to. But when it doesn’t, it can be a huge mess. The problem in Iowa is a case in point.

After months of planning and preparations, the Iowa Democratic Party delivered a whopper last night. More to the point, they failed miserably.

The question is this: Couldn’t they have seen this coming?

If they planned to use an App for reporting, was that App fully tested? Were those directly tasked with using the App fully trained? If not, then why not?

Monday night the Democratic Party in Iowa said there were “inconsistencies” in reporting caucus results and that caused a massive delay and embarrassment for the party.

The delay is frustrating the presidential candidates who had no doubt planned to rally their supporters by proclaiming victory.

The delay also handed Donald Trump something he has waited for a while for: the chance to gloat about the incompetence of the Democrats.

Troy Price, the Iowa Democratic Party Chairman told the various campaigns earlier today thet the state party hopes to have 50 percent of the results in by the end of the day but he wouldn’t commit to a timeline to have all the results in.

Reactions from the various candidates have run from complete silence to claiming victory and then walking it back.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg claimed victory, then attempted to walk it back when he was challenged.

“Looking at what happened last night, looking at all of the data that we’ve got, it was an extraordinary night and we are absolutely victorious coming into New Hampshire,” he told CBS.

“I think it’s safe to say no one in the country is more impatient than I am to hear the official results of the party but we’ve also put out the results that we’ve got from over 1,200 districts. Our precinct organization reported based on a procedure that they were trained to do, and based off that it was a phenomenal night for us.”

He continued that “the improbable hope became an undeniable reality…”

“Tonight, an improbable hope became an undeniable reality,” Buttigieg told supporters in Des Moines on Monday night. “So we don’t know all the results, but we know by the time it’s all said and done — Iowa, you have shocked the nation.”

“We are headed to New Hampshire victorious,” he later said in a video posted on Twitter.

After being challenged for claiming victory even though the results had not been officially announced, Buttigieg demurred, saying that when he declared victory, he didn’t mean to say he won.

“Well, we were looking at the internal numbers that we had and beginning to realize that something extraordinary had happened last night—I mean, here you have a campaign that was really questioned when we first got in, whether we even oughta be here, whether we belonged in this race. And to not only establish that but to reach the position that we did was a clear victory for this campaign,” he said by way of explanation.

Jeff Weaver, a senior adviser for the Bernie Sander’s campaign said the campaign feels like they did very well and the final results will prove that.

“I have a strong feeling that at some point the results will be announced, and when those results are announced I have a good feeling we’re going to be doing very, very well here in Iowa,”
Iowa Caucus Mess 2020

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign called it a “significant failure” while condemning the state party for the failures.

“I think there were some significant failures in the process last night that should give voters concern,” Kate Bedingfield, Biden’s deputy campaign manager told the media Tuesday afternoon.

“It’s going to be close,” Biden later told supporters in Des Moines. “We’re going to walk out of here with our share of delegates. We don’t know exactly what it is yet, but we feel good about where we are.”

Senator Elizabeth Warren said “I feel good” when asked about Iowa results while businessman Andrew Yang said “I’m going right from here to New Hampshire, where I will be one of the seven candidates on the debate stage on Friday night.”

Senator Amy Klobuchar said her campaign was punching about its weight. “We know one thing: we are punching above our weight. Somehow, some way, I’m going to get on a plane tonight to New Hampshire,” she added.

But the question is: Should the Iowa Democratic Party have anticipated this problem? From all account, the party did not adequately test the App.

In 1977, Former U.S president Richard Nixon famously said during a television interview that “when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal.”

Fast forward to 2020, the attorneys for president Donald Trump appear to be resurrecting that line of thinking.

Responding to a question from Texas senator Ted Cruz, Trump lawyer Alan Dershowitz said there is nothing wrong with a president seeking foreign help for his reelection.

His reasoning? Well, the president is above the law, sort of. He said if the president thinks his reelection is in the best interest of the country, then he can rightfully do anything to get reelected.

Huh?

“If a president does something which he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment. Every public official I know believes that his election is in the public interest,” Dershowitz said.

Constitutional scholars were quick to condemn that line of reasoning, arguing that means presidents are free to break any laws as long as they believe that by breaking the laws they are acting in the national interest.

Dean of the University of California, Berkeley, law school Erwin Chemerinsky said he thought Dershowitz’s argument was “absurd and outrageous.”

“It means that a president could break any law or abuse any power and say that it was for the public interest because the public interest would be served by his or her election,” he said.

Meanwhile Sanford Levinson, a University of Texas law professor, said that line of argument was “on its face, preposterous.”

He said that while officials “make a variety of deals that they would prefer not to in behalf of the good cause…we rely on a certain moral compass that will stop at, say, outright bribery” and “suggesting assassinations.”

President Trump’s senate trial continues.
